The world’s largest food innovation exhibition, SIAL, will be giving out gold and silver awards to those pioneering new methods in the food processing industry, in Paris this month.

The world’s largest food innovation exhibition, SIAL is to present its innovation prizes to those introducing novelty items to the food processing industry. About 2,188 products by 942 companies will be in contention for the awards which will be held from October 16-20 at the SIAL innovative observatory in Paris.

SIAL the pioneers of food innovation exhibition and a marketplace for professionals from the food-service industry will be displaying latest culinary trends and demonstrations for people from the sector to take inspiration from.

This year,the 2,188 products submitted in the final categories are set for 600 and more products and 140 services; 15 awards will be presented out of the 45 semi-finalists. The items will be judged by members of the jury comprising of Michelin star chefs, journalists, bloggers, magazine editors, directors and presidents of various companies including the SIAL network.

Over 600 products were presented to 19 international jury members for deliberation on September 12, in Paris- a record participation, 24 pc more than in 2014.

The awards will be given under SIAL innovation category, target buyers, intermediate food and equipment and technology. The winners will be announced on October 17 and will be felicitated with gold, silver and bronze awards.

Features and foods at the event

For the first time, SIAL, Paris will be celebrating new talents of gastronomy or Les Espoirs de la Gastronomy. This competition is set for up-and-coming talents from all over France and will be open to chefs, sommeliers and front-of-house staff.

French chef and restaurateur Joël Robuchon will be a patron for the event.

Around 7,000 companies from 100 countries will be presenting their products to retail and food service sectors. The various food products and services will range from semi-processed foods, tinned or preserved foods, delicatessen products, ready to prepare dishes and beverages to fresh fruits and vegetables, organic products and health products to food supplements. A range of cured and salted meats and poultry will also be there along with wine and spirits.

In addition, the event will have SIAL-TV and in-food centre conferences dedicated to retail and consumer trends of the World Tour.

SIAL as an innovative food business event that takes place at many other cities around the world such as Montreal, Toronto, Abu Dhabi, Jakarta, Manila and Shanghai.
