Zoom Air, a professional airline group and the newest addition to the Indian domestic sky, successfully took off on its opening flight on February 12 and is all set to commence commercial operations from February 15 with Bombardier CRJ200.

After acquiring a schedule-operating permission from the Directorate General of Indian Civil Aviation on February 3, Zoom Air, the brand name for Zexus Air Services and a regional airline based in Delhi, took off on the inaugural flight from Delhi to Durgapur on February 12, and will begin its commercial operations from February 15 to three destinations in India on a Bombardier CRJ200.

Founded in 2013 as Zexus Air, the airline will set out with daily scheduled flights on the Delhi-Kolkata-Durgapur-Delhi route, which will be extended to Amritsar in the afternoon.

The company is currently operating with one 50-seater regional jet Bombardier CRJ-200LR and plans to add four more planes by the month of May this year.

The latest airline sets itself apart from other low cost carriers in the Indian market as it will serve food, snacks and beverages to all its customers free of cost.

The airline stands at number 10 after other scheduled carriers operating in the domestic sky presently being Air India, Jet Airways, Jetlite, Indigo, Spicejet, GoAir, Vistara and Air Asia, and plans to fill the void of air routes which are less catered to by the others and will connect Delhi and Kolkata to Tirupati, Vijaywada, Mumbai, Shillong, Aizawl, Pasighat, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Indore and Bhopal.
