After spending six years in jail in Pune, the 56-year-old Bollywood star and director Sanjay Dutt will finally be released by the end of February this year.

Sanjay Dutt, a big Indian film star and producer, started his career in 1981. He has acted in more than a hundred Bollywood movies and has achieved considerable success. Be it the role of a criminal, a police officer or a romantic hero, he proved his worth in each genre.

After the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, when a series of explosions killed and injured many people, Sanjay Dutt was jailed for 6 years in a case connected with possession of arms. The actor was arrested under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Protection) Act because of illegal possession of a pistol and an AK-56 rifle.

In 1995, Sanjay Dutt was freed from charges interconnected with the serial blasts but was still announced the punishment for six years in jail, as he was guilty of the unauthorized possession of arms. Sanjay Dutt said that he needed those weapons to protect himself and his family from the chaos that followed in Mumbai after the serial blasts.

The actor will walk free from the Pune jail, some days before the actual date of his release date on account of his good behavior inside the jail.

“It’s good that Mr. Sanjay Dutt will be freed. I hope he returns to do some more movies now,” exclaimed Pallavi Goel, a student in engineering from Delhi, who is his big fan.

Even before his release, Sanjay Dutt managed to shoot movies like ‘P.K.’, which made it to the screens in December 2014, while on parole. He also has a fair number of projects in his kitty, the biggest being Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on his life. The biopic will star Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt and the movie will focus on the controversial parts of his life. Also, Sanjay Dutt’s voice over will be heard in the animated movie ‘Koochie Koochie Hota Hai’, which will be released sometime next year.

Seems like the freeing of the actor will prove to be a treat for his fans!
