The Great Indian Food Festival, held at Dilli Haat, Pitampura, New Delhi, from January 23-24, was received with applause from the food lovers.

This food festival drew a huge crowd as numerous popular vendors from cities such as Delhi, Punjab, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, presented a variety of Indian cuisines under one roof.

The passion for food may be universal but Delhi and its people take food very seriously. All the dishes were convincing and the variation in the taste of Indian cuisines made the festival even more delicious. It exhibited a wide range of international dishes with an Indian touch such as the brownie vadapav and Chinese bhel along with rare Indian dishes like dahi kabab, daulat ki chaat, kullad rice chaat and dabeli that were relished by the visitors.

The entrepreneurs took full advantage of the festival as it also provided a platform for the promotion of upcoming brands like Epigamia, which presented a variety of fruit yogurt flavours like mulberry, honey-banana, mint chaat, mango cones, curries and pressed juices.

The sprawling lawn of Delhi came alive with competitions such as Gol Gappa eating contest that was open for the public. It enhanced the energy quotient of the gathering. The cultural dance programmes and band performances were other highlights of the event that made for a perfect treat for the people who attended the food festival.

The interest of the shopaholics was also well taken care of – many stalls showcased the beautifully designed handicrafts from different parts of India that caught their attention immediately. The festival was a total food lover’s paradise with a tint of cultural exposure for the visitors.
