Beautiful gorges, mountain cliffs, valleys, dense forest, magic and mystical waterfalls claim the fame of being listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The perfect island getaway, Reunion Island has a rich natural diversity for such a small Island.

The main attraction that draws attention and makes it a unique is its volcanic origin, that lies in the heart of the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar and southwest of Mauritius. It is a blend of two different worlds together.

Volcanoes

Enriching lush green sheet of nature give way to the volcanic fields of the two volcanic mountain chains, Piton des Neiges » or Snow Peak stands 3,071 metres tall and the « Piton de la Fournaise » or the Peak of the Furnace is 2,631 metres tall.

The three cirques of Mafate, Salazie and Cilaos were formed following the collapse of Piton des Neiges. Much like its volcanic foundation, this Island has so many layers; Not only rich in its wild nature, Reunion holds significance in its rich and diverse culture. It is a multicultural society which is home to people from India, Mozambique, China, Madagascar and the Comores.

Hiker’s Paradise

The way to lush Cirque de Salazie, in the northeast of the Island, is aligned with waterfalls, and the Cirque houses the most beautiful village of France. The village of Hell-Bourg on the mountains of Reunion, as well as Maison Folio have some of the most spectacular sights of the several waterfalls. “Bras de Caverne” and “La Ravine Mazerin’ are a perfect escape for adventure seekers to dive into the canyon.

The Island also surprises one with its magnificent lagoon ; it offers to fly over the region of Saint-Leu and the landing on the spectacular beach allows one to explore the hidden treasures of the island from a bird’s eye point of view.

Indeed hard to resist, the beauty of this Island brings forth many known and less known facts. This place has the best infrastructures which share the most expensive road, the most beautiful city of France which is outside France, it is home to the most active volcano and to highest mountain in the Indian Ocean.
