The city of joy, Kolkata, capital of West Bengal in eastern India, has been buzzing with activity since the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) commenced on November 11. While films are being screened across the city, the epicenter of the activities is Nandan. Nandan is a building complex in central Kolkata that is iconic for film buffs, theater lovers and connoisseurs of cultural events in the city. Apart from screenings of independent films from across the world, regional cinema and documentaries of various genres, interactive workshops with industry professionals is the highlight of the festival that will wrap up on November 18. Marking its 22nd anniversary, and third as a competitive film festival, KIFF has lined up awards and trophies. Cinephiles of various ages, backgrounds and professions gather in Nandan and across the city and celebrate this festival, whose tagline line reads, “Cinema For All, All For Cinema.”
