The leaders shaping world tourism’s future come together within the scope of the World Tourism Forum Global Meeting in Istanbul on February 16-18. Nearly 150 international speakers from 20 countries are expected to participate at the giant summit, to be organised on a global scale.
The 3rd World Tourism Forum Global Meeting will be presented as the ‘Davos of World Tourism’ as it is held on the purpose of sharing world tourism vision with the country’s professionals, increasing Turkey’s tourism potential and supporting the country’s economy, and promoting the developing acceleration in Turkish tourism on an international scale.
The concept of Global Meeting 2017 was determined as ‘Boundaries as barriers: Flawless and Secure Travel’. Within the scope of the summit, the topic titles on tourism trends were also specified. Among the sensational speakers of the summit are Facebook’s spokesperson and Silicon Valley’s strongest woman, Zuckerberg Media founder, Randi Zuckerberg; former Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, International Rescue Committee’s (IRC) President and CEO, David Miliband; former Home and Foreign Secretary during the Prime Ministry of Tony Blair, Jack Straw; Yandex CEO, Arkadij Voloj and Sweden’s largest tourism promotion office, Visit Stockholm’s CEO, Thomas Andersson.
The senior executives of the companies participating in the Global Meeting 2017 will have the opportunity to meet each other and exchange opinions within the scope of ‘Tourism CEO Club’. A highly important event with regards to new cooperation and investments in business world, Tourism CEO Club will bring a new generation approach to the summit.
World Tourism Forum Global Meeting will gather 20 ministers of tourism from various countries in Tourism20 meeting. The leaders and decision makers of the industry will share their opinions on the development of world tourism in the roundtable meeting of Tourism20. The ministers of tourism from 85 countries such as Albania, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia, Mexico, England, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, China, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ghana, Nigeria and Tunisia will be attending the meeting.
The influencers, who are getting more and more important every day, have also been invited within the scope of the Global Meeting. Nearly 300 influencers from various parts of the world will come together as part of ‘eGenInfluencers’ event in World Tourism Forum. ‘eGenInfluencers’ party will be organised in Ciragan Palace Kempinski on February 16.
Regarded as the ‘Oscar of World Tourism’ and the most prestigious award of the tourism industry, World Tourism Forum Award will be held in Ciragan Palace Kempinski on February 17 within the scope of World Tourism Forum.
Before the Global Meeting in Istanbul, ‘Mediterranean Summit’ was held with the motto ‘Feel Global, Be Local’ in Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort on December 10. Moderated by BBC World News’ anchor Kasia Madera, 30 speakers and 750 people from 15 countries attended the summit. The issues such as border security, multi-channel use of tourism, rising trends in destination weddings, new opportunities in payment systems for travel industry, changing perceptions in resort tourism, new sights and approaches to the European markets, technological solutions in tourism industry and big sports events’ and MICE’s contributions to destinations were discussed in detail at the summit.
Following the Mediterranean Summit, the regional summits continued with Russia Summit on January 19. 20 speakers attended the summit, which was held in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Moscow. The summit was followed by 350 tourism professionals, investors and political authorities.
