VGITM will specifically promote the vast bouquet of tourist destinations in Gujarat

With an aim to promote Gujarat as a tourist destination, the fourth edition of Vibrant Gujarat International Travel Mart was inaugurated on February 19, 2016 in Gandhinagar.

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel inaugurated the fourth edition of Vibrant Gujarat International Travel Mart (VGITM) on February 19, which is scheduled for February 19-21 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

The global travel exposition is organised by Government of Gujarat and Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd. (TCGL) in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Representatives from nearly 50 countries and 20 Indian states will participate in the event.

The exposition is designed to facilitate business interactions from Gujarat and across the world, thereby opening significant business opportunities between Gujarat travel fraternity and international travel trade.

On the inaugural day, Anandiben Patel informed that Gujarat’s new tourism policy is getting unprecedented response which will help to list Gujarat among the leading tourist destinations. Around 50 countries including USA, England, Canada, Australia, Italy and Japan and 20 Indian states will participate in this edition of International Travel Mart. The number of national and international buyers has also increased to 285 in this edition compared to 114 in 2011, while the local sellers have increased from 80 to 225.

The state government trained approximately 600 guides with a view to provide proper guidance to the tourists in Gujarat. Along with this, training to 4,500 people willing to join hospitality sector is provided and the three-day event will witness new MOUs for investment of worth INR 1,000 crore within upcoming five years by organising nearly 4,500 B2B meetings.

Various festivals and fairs such as paragliding festival, rannotsav, saputara monsoon festival, navratri festival, heritage festival, Bird Watcher conference, Tarnetar fair, mango festival and beach festival keep travellers coming to Gujarat. The number of travellers coming to the state has increased due to prevailing peace and harmony.

Anandiben Patel and other dignitaries also released a coffee table book ‘Gujarat Tourism through the Land of Art and Craft’ and a tourism roadmap prepared by Yes Bank, along with Hello Innovation Gujarat Tourism Communication.

State Cabinet Ministers Mr. Babubhai Bokhiriya, Mrs. Vasuben Trivedi, Mr. Pradipsinh Jadeja, Mr. Rajnikant Patel, Mr. Jayesh Radadiya, Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Vasanbhai Ahir, MP Mr. Parimal Nathwani, State IAS officers along with Chief Secretary Mr. G. R. Aloriya, Indian-foreign travel agents, office bearers, along with others were present at the event.
