Focus on Skilling Rural Maharashtra

Though Maharashtra is one of the most industrialised states in India, it has a significant rural population as well. In order to promote equal opportunities in the rural areas as well as for the women, the state government has initiated several measures, says Pankaja Munde, Maharashtra’s Minister of Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Women and Child Welfare. One of the key schemes launched by the government is the Earn and Learn where students get an opportunity to earn a wage even while they are enrolled in a school or training facility, The state is focusing on a diverse set of skills for its youth, namely electronics repairs, hospitality, retail, tourism etc. In an exclusive interview with the Media India Group. Munde says that she has high expectations from association with the Europe India Foundation for Excellence EIFE. which can help bring the latest know how in skill development to the young population of Maharashtra.
