'2017 Sales Mission to India' focuses on achieving tourism targets

Over the last couple of years, there has been a significant number of Indians travelling to Indonesia and in order to maintain the momentum and attract more Indian tourists, the Ministry of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia conducted road shows titled ‘2017 Sales Mission to India’ in New Delhi and Mumbai between February 10 and 13.

According to the World Tourism Organisation, in the last two years, the Indian outbound visitors have increased from 16.6 million in 2013 to 18.3 million in 2014 and its is predicted to reach 30 million by 2018.

The data also reveals that there has been a distinct increase of Indians travelling to Indonesia. In 2014, 237,990 Indian tourists visited Indonesia and the number increased to 336,575 in 2016 and the Ministry of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia, is setting high targets for the coming years.

In order to achieve their targets, Indonesia is adding new destinations in its offerings and is also focusing on the religious and heritage tourism. The country is providing free visa as well to Indians travelling to Indonesia.
