As the Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi inaugurated the eighth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit on January 9, kudos poured from all parts of the auditorium and beyond. Almost 100 countries participated in the event, including the likes of France, Russia, Rwanda, Kenya, the US, the UK and the UAE. More than 5,000 delegates made for an impressive crowd.

PM Modi, in his speech which spanned about an hour, showcased India’s growth story. The Indian prime minister, at this biennial business event, said that creating an environment for ease-of-doing-business and attracting investment is his topmost priority.

The initiatives taken by the Modi government in the last two and a half years, like Skill India and Make in India, have gained credibility and have received great appreciation from leaders worldwide. Many CEOs in India and abroad have been equivocal in praising PM Modi’s business and governance skills.

The event had noteworthy developments in form of Adani Group’s revelation of wanting to invest INR 490 billion in the state over the next five years, while the Reliance Group also talked about connecting all the schools through the Internet.

Another takeaway of the event was that more than 5,000 MOUs were signed between various organisations. Now, it is to be seen if the MOUs signed would come to fruition.
