Borders as barricade: Issueless and Safe Travel

While the World Tourism Forum Global Meeting 2017 dropped its curtains last week, the tourism industry in Turkey can expect a growing interest in the world travel industry.

The World Tourism Forum Global Meeting was held in Istanbul, under the Republic of Turkey Presidency care, at the İstanbul Congress Centre with this year’s theme being, ‘Borders as barricade: Issueless and Safe Travel’. The inauguration ceremony of the summit was graced by the Prime Minister of Turkey, Binali Yıldırım, Vice Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Nabi Avcı and 150 international speakers from 20 countries.

With a keen outlook to promote the tourism potential of Turkey, which is stricken by uncalled for security issues, the event invited leaders from the global travel and tourism industry as speakers, including tourism ministers, digital influencers, airline professionals market research leaders.

The summit was designed to share the world tourism vision with the professionals of Turkey, in order to contribute to the national economy by increasing the potential of tourism. While India remains a key market for Turkey and its tourism industry, events like this are aimed at optimising the growing outbound travellers from India and the rest of the world.
