If you are into video blogging, not only YouTube but also look beyond to upload your videos. Here are some video-sharing platforms to improve visibility that allow you to broadcast, monetise and analyse video content.
Social networking platform Instagram recently launched a new, separate mobile application called IGTV, as its long-form video service. The focus is not on episodic content, but on web creator-focused videos.
According to Instagram, younger audiences are spending more time with amateur content creators and less time with professionals. The platform has been meeting with a range of online creators, in order to entice them across to their new video platform.
In IGTV, the creators are its channels. When you follow a creator on Instagram, you follow their IGTV channel. The platform thus provides a chance for anyone to become a creator – just upload videos (up to 60 minutes long) in the application or on the web to start.
IGTV also aims to help creators monetise their videos but options on this front are yet to be developed.
Similarly on their feature ‘Discover’, the multimedia-messaging application Snapchat has also focused on publishing video programmes between three-five minutes. The content aligns with fast-paced mobile consumption, and is curated for young users.
Big electronic commerce companies like Amazon also have subsidiaries that support video streaming. Twitch by Amazon is one such live streaming site that primarily focuses on video game live streaming including broadcasts of e-sports competitions, creative content, real life streams and music broadcasts.
Founded in 2011 and available on the web, android and iOS, YouNow is also a popular broadcasting service where users stream live video content that is interactive and in real time. Users usually post videos of their work including music, dance, stand-up comedy, videography, etc.
These platforms have garnered great popularity with table channel MTV partnered with YouNow for the 2014 MTV video music awards or the Americas Got Talent holding auditions on the platform for season 11.
