This global chain of luxury hotels has many a celebrity becoming part of its global advertising campaign, and its fans – to lure the Indians, now they have Dev Patel.

Award-winning British actor, Dev Patel is the newest celebrity fan to join Mandarin Oriental’s global advertising campaign, He’s a Fan/She’s a Fan.

The campaign aims to connect Mandarin Oriental’s well-recognised symbol – the fan – with international celebrities who regularly stay at the group’s hotels.

Appreciating the support some celebrities have been showing to the group, by choosing its hotels for their stay world over, the group is making donations to a charity picked by each star. As part of the campaign, Patel has chosen Pure Earth to benefit.

Known for its oriental opulence, the group operates 31 hotels and eight residences in 21 countries. For its offering of a contrast of the calm and comfortable, the hotel has Patel as a regular guest at its many branches. Citing Mandarin Oriental, Prague, a former monastery, as a particular favourite, he said, “my idea of luxury in a hotel is a great bathroom.” “That’s where I learn all my lines and like to wash off the character.”

Recently Patel also got himself photographed at the hotel in Los Angeles as part of a bigger photography project. Well-known portrait photographer Mary McCartney clicks each celebrity in a location of their choice which, for them, best represents a feeling of well-being.

“The award-winning campaign continues to make a strong statement about the group in a simple and luxurious manner, and we are delighted to welcome Dev Patel as our newest ambassador,” said Jill Kluge, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s Director of Brand Communications. “By focusing on celebrities who clearly appreciate the finer things in life, we have been able to show the quality of our hotels in a more interesting way than traditional hotel advertising,” she added.

Mandarin Oriental also has a similar association with more celebrity “fans”, some of whom are Lucy Liu, Morgan Freeman, Cecilia Bartoli, Caterina Murino, Sir Peter Blake, Lin Chiling, Karen Mok, Christian Louboutin, and Adam Scott,  besides Patel.

Patel is the star of television series, Skins, and is known for movies such as Slumdog Millionaire, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Lion.
