Dubai, the gateway where East meets the West is set to host World Expo 2020. For six months from October 20, 2020, Expo 2020 Dubai will welcome millions of people from around the world to an experience like never before.

Dubai can be reached by two-thirds of the world’s population within eight hours. Constantly building on its world-class infrastructure, Dubai is home to two international airports, the largest port in the region, a state-of-the-art metro system and a vast array of hospitality and entertainment options.

Inspired by its theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, Expo 2020 is expected to transport the visitors to a new world through immersive pavilions, where more than 200 participants including countries, businesses, multilateral organisations and educational institutions will showcase innovation, world-class architecture, captivating stories, live performances and much more.

A destination already globally renowned as a city of the future and one of the world’s most visited with nearly 16 million coming last year (Source DTCM 2017), Dubai presents travel companies the opportunity to offer their travellers a safe, tolerant, delightfully diverse, unique experience that also encompasses cutting-edge iconic landmarks, majestic sand dunes, clean Gulf waters and the UAE’s Emirati tradition.

“Dubai is already a top choice when it comes to Indian outbound travel and various previous trends and reports have proved that Indians find Dubai not only a good business hub but also a comfortable family destination. Hence Expo 2020 brings a golden opportunity for the Indian travel companies, MICE group organisers to take the right advantage of the milieu of world-class event and tourism,” says  Sumathi Ramanathan, Director – Destination Marketing, Expo 2020.

In perfect warm winter temperatures during the Expo, visitors to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and five other enchanting Emirates, can revel in its beautiful beaches and water parks; enjoy world-class shopping malls and traditional souks. They should not miss the incredible views from the top of Burj Khalifa, the tallest building of the world and the exotic flavours of the Middle East.

“Located on the doorstep of the world’s largest meeting of minds, the new Dubai Exhibition Centre will provide guests with access to a truly global stage. Expo 2020 will also keep visitors engaged and surprised with a host of amazing events, performances and global discussions throughout each day. With new innovations, concerts, dance, food, music and more, the Expo will offer experiences to stimulate every taste, brought by countries from all over the world. With a renowned tradition of warm hospitality, Dubai is home to some of the most luxurious and iconic hotels in the world, as well as a diverse mix of leisure and entertainment facilities, says Shaun Vorster, VP Business Programming, Content & Programming, Expo 2020.

Expo 2020 is working with selected travel companies who are proactively promoting and selling the Expo tickets with value-added travel and visitor services bundled in the travel packages. The packages can include air travel, accommodation, desert safaris, sports and adventure experiences, entertainment, hospitality and culinary exposure, city tour, shopping opportunities and such. As an authorised reseller, agents are being supported with promotional videos and marketing materials and being given permission to use a dedicated reseller logo.

The World Expo is one of the world’s oldest and largest international events, taking place every five years and lasting six months. Each Expo revolves around its own theme to leave a lasting impact on the path of human progress. Expo 2020 Dubai’s core theme is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.  The nations and organisations that will take part in Expo, and the millions who visit, will explore the power of connections across the spheres of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability – the three subthemes that are being seen as fundamental in shaping the world.

Expo 2020 Dubai coincides with the UAE’s 50th anniversary in 2021, marking an important milestone for the UAE. The people attending will come from all over the world, with 70 per cent expected to be international visitors, the highest proportion in Expo history. About 30,000 UAE resident volunteers will be helping look after them. The Expo site is located within the Dubai South district, close to Al Maktoum International Airport and can be easily reached from Dubai International Airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport and Dubai and Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminals. The Expo gated area will include a wide variety of food and retail options and visitors will be able to taste dishes from around the world and explore unique shopping experiences.
