With so much to explore, visiting Paris for a few hours or one day might seem like a stretch, however, now a quick journey is an actual possibility. Even if you have a layover, now there is a way to experience the capital with the Bateaux Parisiens Cruises at the Seine River as they take you through all the important heritage sites and monuments in the city in just one hour.
As we start our journey from the foot of the Eiffel Tower, kilometres of water surround us with the view of the city on either side. An audio commentary throughout the course, in 14 languages including Hindi, informs us about the history of Paris and its main monuments with numerous anecdotes.
Gliding under one bridge to another with a view of the finest monuments, the Bateaux Parisiens Cruise boats take you on an hour’s relaxation in the heart of Paris on the River Seine to discover the elegance and richness of river banks and monuments of Paris.
Beginning our journey by capturing the low-angle view of the Eiffel Tower, we sail through other important sites in the city including Invalides, Assemblee Nationale, Musee d’Orsay, Institut de France, Pantheon, Cite de la Mode, Notre Dame, Louvre, Place de la Concorde, Grand Palais, Palais de Chaillot and Statue de la Liberte.
However, the cruise is not just about the monuments. The journey also provides an opportunity to experience the city street life from both sides of the river, and the beautiful bridges that greet you after some intervals. The Seine flows right through the heart of Paris bordering 10 of the 20 districts. It is still the chief commercial waterway and half of the water used in Paris still comes from the Seine.
The river houses a total of 32 bridges, some of them more impressive than others – with the oldest bridge being – Pont Neuf, which has been immortalised by artists and poets and even some 20th century films.
Its not just because of its beauty that the Seine river is known to be romantic, but for centuries, the river and its bridges have been capturing the soul of the city, which has also been an inspiration for various poets, painters, philosophers and architects. So much so, many of them have also created masterpieces sitting beside the waters.
Besides capturing the city, the cruise also offers an opportunity to savour the traditional French cuisine, freshly prepared on board using seasonal produce – quenching the travellers’ thirst to fully experience the city and its culture.
