With just two days left for the inaugural ceremony, WTM London introduces a New Wedding Seminar to tap the potential of a billion-dollar niche travel industry.
The leading global B2B event for the travel industry launched the new event to help travel professionals get the most out of the lucrative sector by venturing into the destination weddings’ domain.
The WedGlobal wedding seminar will be held on November 6 and will witness a panel of experts from the fields of wedding planning, photography, hotels and tour operations to take part in the seminar. Discussions will be centred on innovative concepts in the destination wedding industry, including what’s trending and the best implementation techniques. Interestingly, there will also be a forecast of destination romance trends for the next decade.
The seminar session will be moderated by Susan Barone, founder and director of travel companies ‘Luxury Weddings Worldwide’ and ‘InStyle Vacations’. She will be joined on the panel by international wedding photographer Jules Bower and wedding planner Bruce Russell alongside Dileep Mudadeniva, vice president brand marketing at Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and Salah Bushehri, designer and managing director of Chandal Group Events Management, in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Luckily for the revellers, the seminar will be followed by an announcement of a major competition where one lucky couple can win an all-expenses-paid wedding in Sri Lanka, including taking 50 guests.
WTM London, Conference & Seminar Manager Charlotte Alderslade, stated, “WTM London invites everyone to our ‘big day’. This seminar ‘vows’ to reveal how professionals can build and grow their romance brand internationally and is a must-attend for ministers and directors of tourism, product developers both hoteliers and destinations, travel media and agents interested in learning about strategic concepts and solutions that will bring about a breakthrough in the wedding industry.”

Estimating the Wedding Industry
The global wedding market is now a USD 300-billion industry, while the UK industry is valued at EUR 11.25 billion (GBP 10 billion).
While the wedding event management industry witnessed a considerable dip in their business during the economic downturn from 2008 to mid-2010, the tables have turned and the market has bounced back. From caterers to wedding consultants; from bridal wear designers to beauty salons, jewellers, photographers and DJs; from florists to honeymoon tour organisers and hoteliers, all are thriving on the growth prospects of this industry.
Every year couples marrying in the United States splurge an estimated 60 billion dollars to say “I do.” Even in India, the big cities for fat Indian weddings including Jaipur, Udaipur, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Goa and Kerala, see couples spend between INR 2 million (USD 30,000) to INR 20 million (USD 300,000) for three to five days of elaborate celebrations.
In a bid to utilise the underlying potential of the wedding industry, which is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing markets, WTM London specifically designed the new Wedding Seminar to keep up with the trends and be in vogue. Mr England (2017-18), Jack Eyers and Miss England runner-up, Rachel Pitman, will take part in the launch of the seminar along with wedding photographer David Stanbury.
