June 5, 2021

Marked since 1974, the World Environment Day has been a colossal failure as the global environment has dramatically worsened on all counts. Carbon emissions have jumped from 1568 mn tonnes in 1974 to 3644 mn tonnes in 2019, plastic production has grown from 35 mn tonnes in 1970 to 381 mn tonnes. Humankind is staring at a drought and being flooded by rising sea waters as forest cover dwindles to 4064 mn hectares, water usage rises from 2360 bcm to 3990 bcm and mean sea level is well over 5 inches higher than in 1970.
