India’s push to strengthen domestic defence manufacturing received a fresh impetus as public sector defence major Bharat Electronics (BEL) a Navratna public sector firm, signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with RRP Electronics and RRP Defence, both part of the RRP Group, a leading integrated technology company.

In a press statement, BEL says that the agreement focusses on collaboration in semiconductors, electro-optics and unmanned systems areas seen as central to modern warfare and defence preparedness.

The statement adds that the partnership aligns with India’s broader policy emphasis on indigenisation and reducing reliance on imports for critical defence technologies.

BEL brings experience in defence electronics and mission-critical systems. The RRP Group contributes capabilities in semiconductor manufacturing, electro-optical systems and unmanned aerial platforms.

Under the agreement, the companies will jointly identify and develop technologies for defence and strategic use. These include semiconductor devices, electro-optical systems such as surveillance equipment and weapon sights, and next-generation unmanned platforms, says the statement.
