Tourist arrivals in Manali in Himachal Pradesh have surged for the summer season, with hotel occupancy levels reaching 70 pc to 80 pc and expected to rise further during May and June, driven by pleasant weather, remaining snowfall and growing demand for adventure and leisure travel in the hill destination.
In a press statement, tourism stakeholders in Manali says that surge in tourist footfall has been driven by pleasant weather, lingering snowfall in the hills and improved preparations by tourism operators.

It adds that special packages are being offered by hotels, while taxi and auto unions are also prepared to welcome tourists.
According to the statement, the tourism stakeholders have demanded reopening of Rohtang Pass, calling it one of the key attractions for tourism in Manali. The pass was earlier closed following pollution concerns raised by the National Green Tribunal, but the construction of the Atal Tunnel has significantly reduced vehicular pressure in the region, strengthening the case for reopening the route for tourists.
