India is exporting indigenous defence products to nearly 100 countries worldwide, with defence exports recording significant growth over the past decade, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Speaking at a conclave in New Delhi on Thursday, Singh highlighted the country’s progress in defence manufacturing and its efforts to strengthen domestic production.
Singh said that India’s defence exports had increased from INR 6.86 billion in 2013-14 to more than INR 380 billion in 2025-26, reflecting the expansion of the country’s defence industrial capabilities and its growing presence in international markets.
The Minister also says that India had achieved more than 90 pc self-reliance in ammunition variants. Of the 175 ammunition variants in the Indian Army’s inventory, 159 are indigenous, highlighting progress in reducing dependence on foreign supplies.

Singh adds that over the past 12.5 years, India’s defence sector had expanded its capabilities and undergone a significant strategic shift in its approach to national security. He added that the government was building a defence ecosystem that strengthens national security, drives economic growth and reinforces India’s role in the global security architecture.
Singh also says that India’s armed forces were fully prepared to face any challenge. He stated that security forces had neutralised most terrorists within a year of their taking up arms against India.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, the Balakot airstrikes and surgical strikes, the Minister said these operations symbolised a shift in India’s approach to countering terrorism, moving from diplomatic condemnation towards proactive action aimed at eliminating terrorist threats at their source.
