With an average seat load factor of almost 80 pc, the Belgium national carrier has decided to invest even more in India

Brussels Airlines continues to invest in India by launching its sixth new flight to Mumbai and organising Brussels dances with Mumbai event in India. Brussels Airlines, which became a part of the Lufthansa Group in December 2016, had reopened the direct flight route between Brussels Airport and Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on March 30, 2017. This route was shut down after Jet Airways ended its partnership with the airlines last year. After seven successful months of the launch of 5 weekly direct flights to Mumbai, the Belgium national carrier has recently introduced an extra flight owing to the rise in the number of passengers from India.

“Our new service received a warm welcome here in the Indian market and we are very happy with the results. Adding this sixth weekly flight confirms our investment in the Indian market. We are therefore very happy to participate in the Belgian Royal state visit here in Mumbai. With this spectacular event at the iconic gate of India, we are proud to bring the best of Belgium to India and to emphasize on the importance of the economic bonds between our two countries,” said Bernard Gustin, CEO of Brussels Airlines

To increase the seating capacity by 5-10 pc, Brussels Airlines is planning to replace seven of its fleet of 10 Airbus A330s on its long-haul routes in 2018. Currently, Brussels Airlines is the only carrier which connects the Belgium capital of Brussels with India.

In order to invest in the Indian market, Brussels Airlines participated in the Belgian Royal State Visit to India from November 5-11, 2017. The state visit by Belgium King Philippe and Queen Mathilde took place when both nations are celebrating 70 years of diplomatic ties. This visit aimed at deepening the overall political and economic engagement between the two countries.

On the occasion of this Royal visit, Brussels Airlines along with other Belgian partners, Brussels Airport, Bal Moderne and Tomorrowland, organised a dance event at the Gateway of India called Brussels Dances with Mumbai.

This is the first time when Bal Moderne came to Mumbai, the academy was created in 1993 by Michel Reilhac, who is also known as the creator of modern ball. This academy has toured extensively around the world. The culture exchange program developed by them connects the world through the art of dance. The professionals teach people with no experience in dance over the course of an evening. The event was held in Mumbai on November 9, 2017, with the Belgian Royal Family in attendance. The Academy collaborated with Ashley Lobo, his company Navdhara India Dance Theatre and the Danceworx Academy.
