With expansion of Terminal 3, Air India Group moves some domestic flights in Delhi

Air India will move 60 daily domestic flights to Terminal 2, while Air India Express will shift all domestic flights to Terminal 1 and all international flights will remain at Terminal 3

Air India Group will relocate select domestic flights in Delhi Airport starting from October 26. While some flights of Air India will move from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2, Air India Express will move all domestic flights to Terminal 1.

Air India Group has announced changes to its domestic operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport due to Terminal 3 expansion by, reducing domestic capacity.

In a press statement,  the company says that from October 26, Air India will move 60 daily domestic flights to Terminal 2, while Air India Express will shift all domestic flights to Terminal 1. All international flights will remain at Terminal 3.

It adds that Air India’s  domestic flights operating from Terminal 2 (T2) at Delhi airport will be renumbered in four digits, starting with ‘1’ (e.g., AI1737, AI1787) for easy identification. Passengers with connecting flights between Terminals 1, 2, and 3 will be provided inter-terminal transfers and seamless baggage handling.

It adds that Delhi International Airport offers a shuttle every 10 minutes for smooth transfers, with special assistance available via buggy rides for those needing extra support.

The statement adds that to ensure a smooth transition, Air India and Air India Express will notify all passengers with bookings on flights relocating to Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 via their registered contacts. New bookings on AI1XXX flights from T2 will clearly indicate the terminal. Passengers on flights operating from Terminal 3 will receive reminders to check their terminal, especially if connecting. Additional staff, identifiable by special t-shirts, will be deployed at terminals to assist with information and transfers. Online check-ins for AI1XXX flights will also include terminal reminders.

According to the statement, all Air India and Air India Express clients are advised to update their contact details in their bookings with accurate information, to receive timely notifications.

The statement adds that passengers are also advised to verify their flight details and terminal information prior to travel through the official websites of Air India and Air India Express, mobile apps, or the airlines’ 24×7 customer service channels.
