Nir-Or, a subsidiary of IMCO Industries Ltd. will unveil the next generation of Large Area Display (LAD) 20″ X 8″ for glass cockpit at the Farnborough International Airshow, that opens on July 18 in the United Kingdom.

Nir-Or is a leading system integrator with a specialty on LCD displays for glass cockpit, avionics systems and rugged computer systems. It also integrates hardware and software into real-time embedded systems for the defence industry, says a press release by the company.

The LAD (Large Area Display) is a main flight display with full dual-redundant screens controlling both the avionics panel and additional flight or mission-specific operational functions, making it ideal for the newest and most sophisticated combat aircraft like the F-35.

It offers a dynamic viewing range, from broad sunlight reading to night operation with NVG compatibility. It is specifically built for airborne applications, says the company. Nir-Or’s LAD offers different video inputs to satisfy mission requirements. It has an illuminated bezel keyboard with optical multi-touch screen technology and displays visual symbols in addition to other flight-specific operating functions.

Along with the LAD Display, Nir-Or will also showcase other cutting-edge displays and solutions, such as a glass cockpit programme for ALH helicopters, a Large Area Display demonstrator for the Black Hawk and an AH-64 Apache Gunner display that was specifically updated for the Israel Air Force.

“As a prime system integrator, Nir-Or is offering cutting edge displays for aircraft and helicopters, including the newest and most advanced ones,” says Roy Riftin, CEO of Nir-Or. “Nir-Or’s LAD for glass cockpit includes optical multi-touch screen functionality and other key features that enhance the pilot’s situational awareness and command and control capabilities,” he adds.

For decades, the Farnborough International Airshow has been a leading global platform for the aerospace and defence industry. This year, as the airshow returns to its normal, in-person format, its role will carry even greater significance with FIA2022 serving as the first major event to reconnect colleagues from around the world, enabling business growth and recovery.

‘‘A huge amount will have changed in the three years since we last brought industry together; however, FIA 2022 will be a strategic opportunity to witness the leaps in development that have taken place as well as showcasing innovation to a truly global audience, face-to-face,’’ say the organisers.
