Searches for wedding-related services witnessed a remarkable 21 pc surge nationwide
In a significant shift towards even greater opulence, Indian weddings are becoming more extravagant than ever. From January to November 2024, searches for wedding-related services witnessed a remarkable 21 pc surge nationwide compared to the same period in 2023, says Justdial, an Indian search engine.
This trend underscores a growing demand for luxury, personalisation, and professional assistance, reflecting the evolving preferences of couples as they reimagine traditional ceremonies with contemporary grandeur and unforgettable experiences.
In a press statement, Justdial says that wedding-related searches in metro cities rose by 34 pc. It adds that Delhi leads with a 44 pc surge, followed by Hyderabad, with 41 pc, Mumbai at 37 pc, Kolkata 32 pc, and Bengaluru 27 pc.
It adds that non-metro cities also saw a 16 pc increase, with Lucknow rising 36 pc, Patna 34 pc and Jaipur 30 pc showing notable growth.
Justdial says that the escalating demand is evident in specific service categories. Searches for ‘resort wedding venues’ have tripled nationwide, with Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad seeing even higher increases.
It adds that cinematic wedding photographers are in high demand, with searches doubling, especially in Delhi, Patna and Mumbai.
The statement adds that the demand for personalised touches is reflected in a 47 pc increase in searches for ‘pre-wedding gowns on rent,’ led by Hyderabad, that rose 116 pc, Mumbai 33 pc and Delhi with 10 pc.
It adds that Searches for ‘wedding card dealers’ also grew by 44 pc, with Delhi 57 pc, Hyderabad up by 43 pc, and Mumbai 40 pc leading.
It further adds that searches for banquet halls rose by 40 pc, with Delhi growing 79 pc, Hyderabad rising 72 pc, Mumbai up by 66 pc, Bengaluru 63 pc, Pune 61 pc, Kolkata 48 pc and Chennai that rose by 43 pc showing strong growth. The rise in searches for ‘candid wedding photographers’ by 28 pc reflects a focus on unique experiences, with Chennai’s searches soaring and Mumbai’s increasing by 61 pc.
The report says that searches for wedding choreographers rose by 24 pc nationwide, led by Mumbai leading the growth with 278 pc, followed at a distance by Delhi 37 pc, Jaipur 35 pc and Bengaluru rising by 24 pc.
It adds that searches for ‘orchestras for weddings‘ has also increased by 15 pc, with Delhi up by 48 pc and Patna by 46 pc seeing the highest growth.
The statement adds that searches for ‘wedding planners’ rose by 13 pc, with Jaipur by 37 pc, Bengaluru 26 pc, Ahmedabad by 21 pc and Delhi by 19 pc seeing notable growth.
