Tawazun has signed a contract with Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace manufacturer
The Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement (Tawazun), an organisation of the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has signed a contract with Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace manufacturer, for the purchase of up to 20 C-390 Millennium aircraft, comprising 10 firm orders and 10 options, to enhance the operational airlift capacity of the UAE.
In a press statement, Embraer says that the UAE national defence enabler said the deal is designed to boost the country’s military, humanitarian and interoperability capabilities, while promoting long-term operational efficiency.

The statement adds that signing ceremony was held in Abu Dhabi and was attended by Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of Tawazun Council, Bosco da Costa Jr, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Francisco Gomes Neto.
The C-390 Millennium was selected after a comprehensive evaluation process, including testing in the UAE’s operating environment, that proved it was the best equipped to meet the mission requirements while optimising the life cycle costs, the statement says.

The statement says that the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities and after-sales support services will be created in partnership with a national enterprise, promoting the expansion of the local defence ecosystem.
“This contract represents a significant operational enhancement to the UAE’s military airlift capability, strengthening force readiness and operational efficiency, and enabling the Armed Forces to effectively execute a wide range of missions across diverse operational environments. The selection of the C-390 Millennium follows a comprehensive technical and operational evaluation, ensuring high levels of performance and reliability, while supporting effective integration with existing systems and advancing the UAE’s multi-mission airlift capabilities over the long term,” says Al Nuaimi .
