Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer and Adani Defence & Aerospace, the flagship defence and aerospace company of Adani Enterprises, have advanced their strategic partnership by exchanging an enhanced Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Final Assembly Line (FLA) for the E175 regional jet in India, marking a key step toward building an integrated Regional Transport Aircraft ecosystem, strengthening regional air connectivity and deepening strategic ties between India and Brazil.

In a press statement, Embraer says that the partnership aims to establish a full ecosystem around the E175 aircraft in India. This includes collaboration across aircraft manufacturing and assembly, supply chain development, aftermarket services, maintenance, repair and overhaul, pilot training and efforts to secure aircraft orders to support the proposed FLA.

According to the statement, under the proposed framework, Embraer and Adani Defence & Aerospace plan to establish FLA for the E175 in India. The companies are already working together on multiple aspects of the MoU, with a focus on building long-term industrial capability rather than limited assembly activity.

“Regional aviation is the backbone of economic expansion. With initiatives like Udan transforming air connectivity across Tier II and Tier III cities, the need for an indigenous regional aviation ecosystem has become critical. This partnership will also strengthen strategic relations between India and Brazil, bringing complementary capabilities together,” says Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Defence & Aerospace.

“We are shaping India’s regional transport aircraft ecosystem, a bold stride toward aviation that bridges urban-rural divides, generates high-skill employment and elevates India’s position in the global aerospace industry,” says Ashish Rajvanshi, President and CEO, Adani Defence & Aerospace.

“The E175 has a global track record of enabling efficient, high-frequency regional operations and India is a key growth market in that segment. This signing represents a critical milestone for our partnership, as we continue to work together on all aspects of the proposed aerospace ecosystem, including securing orders for a Final Assembly Line in India,” says Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO, Embraer.

The statement adds that India is one of the world’s fastest growing aviation markets in terms of passenger traffic and is expected to require at least 500 aircraft in the 80-146 seat segment over the next 20 years. This demand is being driven by the need for efficient regional and short-haul connectivity using smaller, fuel-efficient jets.

With seating for up to 88 passengers, the E175 is positioned to serve what the companies describe as India’s ‘blue ocean’ opportunities in largely uncontested Tier II and Tier III markets. These routes are often underserved by larger aircraft and the E175 is expected to enable new connections, improve reliability and accelerate the expansion of regional air travel, in line with Udan’s objectives.
