Air India operates 15 all-women crew flights to mark International Women’s Day

Air India says since its integration into the Tata group there has been a notable surge in women employees across all aspects of the airline’s operations

To mark the International Women's Day, Air India Group operated 15 all-women crew flights, marking a significant stride towards gender equality and empowerment in aviation.

In a celebration of International Women’s Day, the Air India Group operated a total of 15 all-women crew flights, both domestically and internationally.

In a press statement Air India says since its integration into the Tata group there has been a notable surge in women employees across all aspects of the airline’s operations and women constitute 51 pc of its workforce, while 13 pc of its pilots are women.

The statement adds that Air India has organised week-long programmes to inspire women employees across the network through webinars and live sessions with experts in various fields and role models for wider awareness and inspiration.

On the occasion of Women’s Day, Air India provided complimentary seat selection and priority boarding via its mobile app and website for all female passengers.

Additionally, Flying Returns offered women members an exclusive fast-track opportunity to upgrade to the Silver Edge Club, ensuring 15 pc more reward points, complimentary upgrades, and priority check-in services.

The statement adds that these initiatives align with the Women’s Day theme, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,’ echoing the commitment of the Tata group and Air India to equal opportunities, diversity and innovation.
