Gear up for the Mumbai Shopping Festival 2018

A first of its kind, city-wide extravaganza

In a first, the government bodies in Mumbai have come together with private players to curate a one of its kind shopping and food fiesta in the city.

India’s first city-wide shopping festival is being celebrated in Mumbai, the capital city of the western Indian state of Maharashtra. A one-of-its-kind event, the fest has been organised by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) in association with the Department of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, and will be held across the city till January 31st.

From outdoor markets and flash mobs to arenas, mega sales and rewards, the festival has on offer world-class retail experiences.

In lieu of the recent notification by the government of Maharashtra where shops and establishments can now stay open round-the-clock, the department of tourism and MTDC will set up Mumbai’s first ever Night Bazaar Flea Market which will go on till 4:00 am on weekends at the city’s Inorbit Mall.

“We are delighted to see zealous interest from our partners including retailers, brands, restaurants, who have given innumerable hours to making the Mumbai Shopping Festival a reality. We look forward to the participation of each and every Mumbaikar, and citizens of the country in joining us celebrate this mega extravaganza,” said, Devendra Fadnavis, the chief minister of Maharashtra.

Adding to the festivities, the Mumbai Shopping Festival will also showcase Mumbai’s first ever Food Truck Zones set up in different areas over the weekends.

“MSF 2018 will heighten tourism in Maharashtra. Our aim is to establish this event on a global platform as one of the most sought-after and visited shopping and cultural festivals of the world. This is already one of the biggest initiatives by MTDC and we are determined to make it even bigger in the coming years,” adds Jaykumar Rawal, minister of tourism, government of Maharashtra.

There will be multiple events across the city, every weekend throughout the festival. Mumbai will see over 500 performances at multiple stages across 13 different locations including popular tourist spots such as Girgaon Chowpatty, Crawford Market, Worli Sea Face, Shivaji Park,  Carter Road, Bandra, Juhu Beach, International Airport, Domestic Airport, Vashi Railway station, The Walk, Thane, Cypress Garden, Mulund, Galleria Mall, Powai, Maxus Mall and Mira Road.
