The northeastern state of Mizoram recorded 675,284 tourist arrivals between January and August, including 664,197 domestic visitors and 11,087 foreign tourists, as the state government steps up efforts to promote tourism through cultural events, festivals and adventure activities.
In a press statement, Mizoram Tourism says that the tourist arrivals have increased from 524,784 in the 2024-25 financial year to 980,618 in 2025-26. The 2024-25 figure included 5,911 foreign visitors.
The statement adds that the officials attributed the increase to improved infrastructure and tourism promotion, including the opening of the Bairabi-Sairang railway line and campaigns focussed on Mizoram’s eco-tourism potential.
