Anuga, a leading global trade fair for the food and beverage industry, will launch Anuga Alternatives to showcase its focus on products derived from alternative protein sources, at Köln in Germany from October 4 – 8.

In a press statement, Anuga says that this new format is focussed exclusively on products derived from alternative protein sources, including plant-based, microbial, cultivated, mycelium and algae-based innovations.

The statement adds that the launch of Anuga Alternatives has already attracted significant international interest. Around 90 exhibitors from countraies such as the Netherlands, Denmark, Slovenia, Türkiye and Luxembourg have confirmed participation.

According to the statement, in addition to the dedicated hall for Anuga Alternatives, the broader Anuga 2025 event will feature over 1,300 exhibitors showcasing plant-based products across all ten trade shows, adds the statement.

Anuga also says that exhibitors will present a wide range of protein alternatives, from traditional plant-based items to more advanced microbial and mycelium-based products. Notable examples include Pacifico Biolabs, a German company that will showcase ‘Viando chicken’, a mycelium-based meat alternative designed to replicate the taste, texture, and nutritional profile of chicken.

Meanwhile, SunflowerFamily, another German company, will launch ‘Sunflower Mince’, an organic-certified meat alternative made from sunflower protein and Jens Møller Products, located in Denmark will feature algae-based vegan seafood products, such as ‘Cavi-Art’, vegan caviar and ‘Zhrimps’, vegan shrimp.

The statement adds that Anuga Horizon Stage, located in Hall 1, will serve as a platform for discussions around the future of food. The programme will include keynotes, panel discussions, and interactive sessions under themes such as AI & Deep Tech, Health & Functional Food, and Circularity & Regeneration, says Anuga.

Koelnmesse is a global leader in organising international trade fairs for the food and drink industry, as well as for food production. With events like Anuga, Anuga FoodTec, ISM, and ProSweets Cologne, it offers a wide range of exhibitions, covering everything from ingredients and manufacturing to packaging, finished products and the latest technologies and innovations, says the statement.
