Antara Cruises launches 'the Silent River Escape' aboard Antara Catamarans
River cruise company Antara Cruises has announced a two-night, three-day private catamaran journey through the waterways of Bhitarkanika, a wildlife sanctuary in Odisha, famous for its mangroves.
In a press statement, the cruise operator says that the newly launched itinerary will operate on the Gupti–Dhamra–Kanika Island–Gupti circuit, offering travellers an intimate journey through the tranquil mangrove ecosystem of Odisha.
Designed as a private luxury escape, each catamaran features two suites and accommodates up to six persons, supported by a five-member crew.
It adds that the experience is aimed at travellers looking for privacy, slow travel and immersive exploration of one of India’s lesser-explored river landscapes. Antara Cruises currently operates four such catamarans, enabling accommodation for up to 24 passengers travelling together in larger groups.

According to the statement, itinerary comes at a time when the Bhitarkanika Sanctuary remains closed for the season, allowing clients to instead discover the wider ecological and cultural richness beyond its famous crocodile habitat. The cruise explores waterways, mangrove forests, local traditions and spiritual landmarks across the region.
The voyage begins from Gupti with onboard lunch before sailing toward Dhamra. On the second day, the itinerary includes a visit to the Dhamra Temple for puja and darshan, followed by exploration near the harbour before proceeding to Kanika Island, where the vessel anchors amid untouched natural surroundings.
The statement adds that Antara Catamarans feature air-conditioned interiors, lounge-cum-dining spaces, spacious outdoor decks and curated onboard experiences. Customers are served customised meals featuring Odia cuisine, Indian favourites and international dishes, including vegan options. Additional experiences include wildlife talks, cooking sessions, books, board games and guided shore excursions.
The package is priced at INR 1,00,000 for a private yacht accommodating up to four persons, with additional arrangements available for up to six people at extra cost.
