Indian Railways to run 102 festival special trains for Dussehra, Diwali

Indian Railways will run 102 trips of special trains during the upcoming festive season to accommodate increased passenger demand and provide additional connectivity across key routes.

In order to cater to peak demand for train travel during the upcoming festive season, the Indian Railways will operate 102 trips of festival special trains across routes served by the Solapur Division during the upcoming Dussehra and Diwali period, providing additional travel options for passengers travelling between major destinations including Mumbai, Chennai, Latur, Kolhapur and Kalaburagi.

In a press statement, Indian Railways says that the special services will connect major destinations including Mumbai, Chennai, Latur, Kolhapur and Kalaburagi, allowing passengers to travel during the Dussehra and Diwali period.

The CSMT Mumbai-Chennai Beach Weekly Special will operate six trips, departing CSMT Mumbai at 00:35 every Wednesday from October 14 to November 18 and reaching Chennai Beach at 23:30 the same day.

In the return direction, the Chennai Beach-CSMT Mumbai Special will run six trips, departing Chennai Beach at 04:00 every Thursday from October 15 to November 19 and reaching CSMT Mumbai at 04:00 the following day.

The service will halt at Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, Daund, Kurduwadi, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Wadi, Krishna, Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Adoni, Guntakal, Gooty, Tadipatri, Yerraguntla, Cuddapah, Razampeta, Renigunta, Arakkonam and Perambur.

For passengers travelling between Mumbai and Latur, the Mumbai-Latur Bi-Weekly Special will operate 13 trips. The train will depart CSMT Mumbai at 00:35 every Tuesday and Thursday from October 13 to November 24 and arrive at Latur at 11:40 the same day.

The Latur-CSMT Mumbai Special will also operate 13 trips, departing Latur at 16:30 hrs every Tuesday and Thursday from October 13 to November 24 and reaching CSMT Mumbai at 04:10 the following day.

The service will halt at Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, Uruli, Daund, Bhigwan, Jeur, Kurduwadi, Barshi Town, Dharashiv and Harangul.

Additionally, 64 trips of special trains will be operated between Kolhapur and Kalaburagi, with services running daily except Fridays. The Kolhapur-Kalaburagi Special will make 32 trips from October 10 to November 15, departing Kolhapur at 06:10 and reaching Kalaburagi at 16:10 the same day.

The Kalaburagi-Kolhapur Special will also make 32 trips, departing Kalaburagi at 18:10 from October 10 to November 15 and reaching Kolhapur at 05:40 the following day.

The train will halt at Hatkanagale, Jayasingpur, Miraj Junction, Arag, Belanki, Sulgare, Kavathe Mahankal, Langarpeth, Dhalgaon, Mhasoba Dongargaon, Javale, Wasud, Sangola, Pandharpur, Modnimb, Kurduwadi Junction, Solapur and Kalaburagi Junction.

Reservations for the festival special trains, which will be available on special charges, will open from September 27, 2026, at all computerised reservation centres, through the IRCTC website and on the RailOne app.

Passengers have been advised to travel with valid tickets to avoid inconvenience. Detailed timings and stoppages can be checked through the Indian Railways enquiry portal, RailOne and NTES apps.

The Solapur Division has appealed to passengers to use the special train services during Dussehra and Diwali to travel to their destinations, meet family and friends and visit different places during the festive period.
