Anime India Mumbai 2026, an initiative by AnimationXpress, brought together anime fans, creators, artists, performers, gamers, cosplayers and industry professionals for a three-day celebration of Japanese anime, manga, gaming, music and pop culture, with a famous Japanese manga and anime series, Naruto director Hayato Date making his first official visit to India.
In a press statement, AnimationXpress, a leading platform covering the animation, visual effects (VFX), gaming and comic industries, says the convention, held from August 28 to 30, featured programming across anime, manga, gaming, cosplay, Japanese music, voice acting, screenings, competitions and creator interactions.
The statement says a key highlight was a dedicated fan session with Naruto director Hayato Date, marking his first official visit to India and giving fans direct access to one of the influential creators behind the globally popular anime series. The event also featured a session with Sakamoto Days producer Ryota Hasegawa.
The convention featured the Otaku Quiz, the Last Verdict anime gameshow, Ramen Quiz Competition, Gunpla sessions, manga and comic book launches, cosplay activities and voice acting sessions featuring talent associated with Spy x Family, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer and Action Kamen.
The final day featured the Naruto Cosplay Competition, Grand Cosplay Competition, Mage Masquerade, anime screenings, prop-making and manga art competitions. The convention concluded with a live musical concert featuring Luna, Mofomofomo, Yura Akari and ASCA.
The statement adds that the Mumbai edition followed previous Anime India events in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, further expanding the platform’s presence across India and reflecting the growing scale of the country’s anime ecosystem.

According to the statement, the next edition of Anime India is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on November 14 and 15.
