Discovering falls and cliffs in Madhya Pradesh
Taking an edgy look at Bhedaghat
Falls, temples, cliffs and rock formations make for an interesting visit to Bhedaghat, located in the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh (central India).
Bhedaghat in the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh is a less explored area of the country. The Narmada River, known as the lifeline of the state, flows through narrow gorges of steep limestone cliffs, creating interesting rock-cut formations and falls.
If one wants to indulge in nature, these rock formations make for interesting views and are best explored while travelling on a boat down the river. The beautiful falls (Dhuandar) and daunting cliffs (Marble Rocks) bring out the dichotomy of nature and are a sight to behold.
While the Dhuandar Falls offer beauty and the Marble Rocks offer adventure, the Chausath Yogini Temple brings forth serenity and Sanchi stupa is the greatest gateway of India. The view from the temple is serene and the surrounding greenery soothes the eyes and the soul.
Most of the idols in the temple are in various stages of ruin, but what remains speaks volumes about a bygone era.
