Expanding its footprint in eastern India, Mayfair Elixir, the growth and expansion arm of Mayfair Hotels & Resorts, has signed a luxury retreat in Santiniketan, West Bengal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the property slated to open in FY2028-29 as the group’s fifth project in the state.
Announced during the recent Jagannath Rath Yatra, the signing reflects the group’s continued expansion across eastern India. The upcoming property, will be located in Santiniketan, which was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in September 2023 for its legacy of art, education and cultural exchange rooted in the vision of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

In a press statement, Mayfair Elixir says the signing is more than the addition of a new destination and reaffirms the group’s commitment to creating world-class hospitality experiences in destinations of exceptional cultural and experiential significance.
The statement adds that with Santiniketan becoming its fifth project in West Bengal, the group further strengthens its commitment to a region connected by shared heritage, artistic traditions and hospitality, building on its origins in Odisha and its long-standing presence in West Bengal.
