Amidst the scenic landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, IIM Sirmaur is set to host industry leaders for National Tourism Day on January 25, shaping future of tourism excellence.

The Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur (IIM) is set to host a gathering of leaders from the tourism industry on January 25, to mark the National Tourism Day.

In a press statement, the institute says that the event platform will facilitate the exchange of ideas between the institute’s faculty and various industry leaders, including founders, senior professionals, and experts from renowned companies like AirIndia, IndiGo, Cordelia, Thomas Cook, EaseMyTrip and Travclan.

It adds that IIM Sirmaur is the only institute offering a dedicated two-year MBA in Tourism Management which has established an Industry Advisory Board for this event.

The statement adds that in its second meeting, the board will involve students in dynamic activities, including course development, industry readiness initiatives, and a series of enlightening guest lectures.

The event will feature a case competition by low-cost carrier IndiGo, challenging students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, a mentorship workshop is planned, offering students a unique chance to directly interact with the board members for personalised career guidance.

The event is geared towards collaborative envisioning of the future of travel and tourism academia and industry, complemented by a celebration of Himachal Pradesh’s rich culture. This initiative is poised to enhance the state’s global visibility, reinforcing the institute’s unwavering commitment to excellence in tourism education and the preparation of future leaders for a sustainable and thriving industry, it adds.

The day would conclude with a cultural event celebrating Himachal Day, which also happens to be on January 25. It would feature performance of the traditional Nati dance of Himachal Pradesh.
