Rann Utsav–The Tent City returns from 1 November, opening a four-month celebration of Kutch
Returning to Gujarat from November 1, Rann Utsav-Tent City will bring together Kutch’s rich cultural heritage, traditional crafts, regional cuisine, desert experiences and curated excursions, while offering travellers an extended itinerary to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dholavira through the iconic Road to Heaven.
In a press statement, Evoke Experiences, which operates the Tent City in collaboration with Gujarat Tourism, says that the destination, located about three hours from Bhuj, has emerged as one of India’s most recognisable destination festivals, attracting travellers to the White Rann for an immersive experience of Kutch’s landscape, hospitality, cuisine, crafts and living traditions.
The statement adds that the 2026-27 season will offer tented accommodation, regional dining, adventure and wellness activities, curated excursions and stargazing beneath Kutch’s clear, low-light desert skies. The cultural programme will feature performances by the Siddi community, Gujarat’s unique Afro-Indian community, alongside folk music and dance accompanied by traditional instruments including the Jodiya Pava, Santar, Manjira, Harmonium, Ghado-Gamelo, Dholak and Morchhang.

According to the statement, the on-site Haat will bring together artisans and makers from across the region, showcasing Ajrakh textiles, intricate embroidery, Bandhani sarees, traditional jewellery, mirror work and Lippan art, highlighting Kutch’s rich cultural and artistic heritage.
The statement further says that travellers can extend their Kutch itinerary beyond Dhordo to Dholavira via the iconic Road to Heaven, a 30-km stretch of ruler-straight highway cutting through the Great Rann of Kutch, with expansive salt desert views on both sides.
The route leads to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dholavira and the year-round Evoke Dholavira property. For the upcoming season, Evoke Experiences will add 35 seasonal tents adjacent to the property, providing another tented accommodation option for visitors exploring the ancient Harappan site and Khadir Bet.
According to the organisers, while Dhordo will remain the centre of Rann Utsav celebrations, Dholavira will serve as a separate archaeological and landscape-led extension. Together, the two destinations offer a comprehensive Kutch itinerary, combining the vibrant cultural experiences of Rann Utsav with the dramatic ‘Road to Heaven’ and the historic legacy of the ancient city of Dholavira.
