Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai 2019, MIG wishes you all a very happy Ganesh Chaturthi. This festival celebrated predominantly in the western states of Maharashtra and Goa and the southern states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, a Hindu deity. During this ten-day long festival, colourful idols of Ganesha are worshipped. Many families even play host to these idols and immerse them in the water bodies as the celebration is concluded.

Ganesh Chaturthi also is known as Vinayak Chaturthi is widely celebrated around the country especially in the Indian western states of Maharashtra and Goa and southern states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, to honour Lord Ganesha, the Hindu deity.

It is celebrated during the Hindu month of Bhadra (mid-Aug – mid-Sept), for 10 days and ends on the day Ananta Chaturdashi.

During this festival, the statue of Lord Ganesha is placed on a raised platform in homes or outside the homes in beautiful tents for the people’s view, pray and pay their homage.

Many people perform immersions on selective days who keep Ganesha in their homes i.e. for one and half days or for three to five days.

The statues are mostly decorated with vibrant colors and glitters.
A small group of idol makers is especially called from West Bengal and Bihar who specialize in creating clay sculptures of the Hindu deities.
