Holi, the festival of colours in Mathura and Vrindavan in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh is a once in a lifetime experience. Usually celebrated in the month of march, here, the celebration last for almost a week and the temples gather everyday thousands of visitors. Besides playing holi with colors and water, you can also participate in the different traditional shows of the region. Including the chariot procession of lord Krishna and his beloved Radha or the confrontation between men and women of the surrounding villages where the women playfully beat men with sticks. Sweets and flowers are also put in bags and thrown at each other in temples while the priests sprinkle coloured water on the devotees.
