Gurinder Chadha, best known for her films such as Bhaji on the Beach, Bend it like Beckham, Bride and Prejudice, Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and the comedy film Its a Wonderful Afterlife delves into a deep subject this time.
The film shows how the final Viceroy of India, Lord Mountbatten, had to oversee the transition of British India to independence but meets with conflict as the sides clash in the face of monumental change. The film narrates story of the trauma that people went through due to the division, and how it changed their life.
The movie is all set to release in India on August 18, 2017.
