The exclusive gathering, brought together senior figures from Spain and Portugal
Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, a global leader in clean energy, convened a high-profile business forum in Madrid this week, signalling its commitment to accelerating renewable energy growth across the Iberian Peninsula.
In a press statement, Masdar says that the exclusive gathering, brought together senior figures from Spanish and Portuguese government agencies, regulatory authorities, utilities, investors, offtakers and technology providers.
The statement adds that chaired by Sultan Al Jaber, Chairman of Masdar, the forum focussed on strategies to fast-track the region’s energy transformation and to reinforce Spain’s pivotal role within Masdar’s expanding European operations.
Al Jaber emphasised the importance of strong partnerships in driving the energy transition and highlighted Spain’s position as a strategic hub for the company’s ambitions.
According to the statement, central to Masdar’s growth in Europe is its landmark USD 1.4 billion acquisition of Saeta, a renewable energy company operating in Spain and Portugal.
Additionally, the deal, finalised last year, has established Saeta as Masdar’s principal platform for scaling up its renewable energy presence and supporting decarbonisation efforts in the region.
