Aiming to cater to time-conscious passengers who are not otherwise eligible for priority benefits, Indian airline and part of Tata Conglomerate Air India has recently introduced ZipAhead, a paid service that handles priority check-in and baggage handling.

In a press statement, Air India stated that these services aim to save time at on-ground touchpoints for travellers who are otherwise not eligible for priority services.

It further adds that the passengers opting for the service will have access to dedicated premium economy check-in counters and priority baggage handling at select airports.

Additionally, the service, currently available for departures from six Indian airports, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata will be offered at nominal fees of INR 499 if purchased more than six hours before departure and INR 699 if purchased within six hours of departure.

According to press statement, the platinum and gold members of Air India’s Maharaja Club loyalty programme will receive complimentary access to these priority services, regardless of their fare type or class of travel.

It further says that the service can be purchased up to 75 minutes before departure via Air India’s website, mobile app, airport ticketing offices (ATO), and customer contact centre.
