Two Indian changemakers turned heads at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, not with sequins or celebrity, but with purpose.

According to a press statement, issued by environmental activist organisation Greenpeace, Juhi Vyas, 1st Runner-Up, Mrs India 2022 and Mohini Sharma, Founder of Mrs Femme International and Mrs India, in partnership with Greenpeace India and Greenpeace South Asia, transformed the iconic red carpet into a platform for climate advocacy, drawing global attention to the unequal impacts of climate change.

The statement adds that Vyas, draped in a gown of fiery reds and oranges, embodied the scorching reality of rising temperatures and climate injustice, highlighting the widening gap between major polluters and the vulnerable communities most affected by environmental breakdown.

“I chose to wear the crisis, because too many people live it every day. This gown may shimmer, but it is stitched with urgency. I walk with Greenpeace India to demand justice, hold polluters accountable, and act before the heat becomes our silence,” says Vyas.

It adds that Sharma, in a glacier-blue ensemble, evoked vanishing marine ecosystems and the urgent need to protect the world’s oceans.

“My gown reflects the oceans, serene on the surface, but struggling beneath. I walk today with hope and urgency, calling on the world, with Greenpeace South Asia, to protect what still remains,” says Sharma.

Their striking appearance called for swift ratification of the High Seas Treaty, a landmark international agreement that aims to protect marine biodiversity in international waters but still awaits enough global support to become law.

The statement adds that the duo’s Cannes moment also amplified Greenpeace campaigns, urging world leaders to act with urgency and equity.

“Fashion can be fearless. Advocacy can be beautiful. And climate and ocean justice deserve a place on every red carpet,” says a spokesperson of Greenpeace South Asia.
