The renewed collaboration with Ecotrophelia Europe is part of its ongoing focus on sustainable innovation, young talent and entrepreneurship in the food sector: Anuga
To highlight sustainable concepts and global collaboration, Anuga, a leading food industry show, will stage the European final of Ecotrophelia Europe as part of its 2025 edition in Cologne, taking place from October 4 to 8. The final will be held on October 7 and 8 at the Congress Centre North, with the award ceremony set for the Trend Zone on Boulevard North.
In a press statement, Anuga says that the renewed collaboration with Ecotrophelia Europe is part of its ongoing focus on sustainable innovation, young talent and entrepreneurship in the food sector.
It adds that Ecotrophelia Europe is coordinated by EEIG Ecotrophelia Europe, which includes national food associations and European organisations such as Food Drink Europe and EIT Food. Each participating country holds a national round where student teams of two to 10 members present concepts for sustainable food products. The winning teams compete in the European final at Anuga.

“For us, the partnership with Ecotrophelia Europe is a strategic pacesetter for the entire food industry. Together we are creating a platform where the highest level of sustainable innovation, young entrepreneurship and industrial networking come together,” says Jan Philipp Hartmann, Director Anuga.
Anuga says that this cooperation supports young professionals, highlights sustainable business approaches, and aims to contribute to the future of the food sector.
Organisers of the German food industry show say that competition is designed to foster innovation across Europe by encouraging the development of marketable food ideas from universities and colleges. Participants gain access to industry leaders, investors and project partners.
The statement adds that hosting the European final of Ecotrophelia contributes new perspectives and audiences to the trade fair and enhances industry engagement with sustainable food innovation.
Maarten van der Kamp
“We are delighted to be back at Anuga for the 2025 competition. Our collaboration with Koelnmesse provides the foundation to our efforts to bring our competitors together, and to give them the opportunity to experience how the food industry innovates in a rapidly changing world. We value the support and creativity of the Anuga team so that we can showcase our emerging talent in action,” says Maarten van der Kamp, President, Ecotrophelia Europe.
Aunga says that this year, Korea will join the competition for the first time as a non-European participant. A student team from Korea will present its product “To-flex.” Korea’s participation aligns with its role as Anuga’s official partner country in 2025, reinforcing the competition’s expanding international scope.
