The International Kolkata Book Fair is an unconventional age-old romance that has caught the fancy of several suitors who share the literary dream.

The 42nd International Kolkata Book Fair was inaugurated on January 30, 2018, at Central Park Mela Complex at the presence of chief guest of honour, Mamata Banerjee – the chief minister of West Bengal, French award recipient and acting stalwart Soumitra Chatterjee and the French ambassador to India, Alexandre Ziegler among other prominent dignitaries.

This year, the focal theme country of the fair is France.

The International Book Fair will also be donning a new hat with the launch of the Kolkata Literature Festival as a part of the International Kolkata Book Fair. The Lit fest organised by The Publishers and Booksellers Guild will witness the presence of nine French authors.

Like every year, this year too, the fair is witnessing stalls of a large number of regional, national and international publishers.
