As hospitality groups expand their presence across established and emerging destinations, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group has announced plans to invest INR 6 billion over the next five years, strengthening its portfolio through new developments and an asset-light growth strategy. The expansion is expected to add approximately 1,000 keys to its existing inventory of 2,300.

In a press statement, the group says that approximately 50 pc of the planned additions will come through owned properties, while the remaining 50 pc will be developed through management contracts. It is targetting close to 20 management contracts over the coming years, allowing it to expand into new markets by partnering with property owners.

The statement adds that the group’s owned-property expansion will span five destinations, with Lalit Ahmedabad leading the pipeline. The 240-key luxury hotel is scheduled to open ahead of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The Group also plans to establish its presence in Chitrakoot with a property offering approximately 50 keys.

Existing properties will also receive capacity additions. Lalit Bekal, located on a 105,218 sqm site between the Arabian Sea and the Nombili River, will add 100 keys. In Goa, new wings and additional villas will contribute 50 keys, while Lalit Udaipur will add two wings with 55 keys, alongside expanded banquet and spa facilities.

The statement says that these developments will strengthen the Group’s owned portfolio while expanding its presence in established hospitality markets and emerging destinations. The investments will be funded through internal accruals and savings, supported by a significant reduction in interest costs over the past two years.

Under its management contract strategy, Vrindavan will be the Group’s first property, with approximately 75 keys. It is also exploring opportunities in Chennai, Hyderabad, Leh, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Lakshadweep, Siliguri and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, among other destinations.

“Over the next decade, we plan to invest INR 6 billion in properties where we own the land, while using management contracts to expand where our partners bring the capital. We look forward to exploring opportunities to expand our portfolio through several management contracts. But expansion cannot come at the cost of identity. Whether we own the property or manage it, every Lalit hotel must carry the same spirit and character, with standards that define us,” says Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson and Managing Director, the Lalit Suri Hospitality Group .
