The food processing industry comes as a value-addition option for the agri class of India, which has been failed on many a occasion. The Indian government has been trying, for over a decade, to promote infrastructure and food processing industry, by building better storage facilities. World’s leading processed foods manufacturers have been targeting Indian consumers, helped by the rapid growth of modern food retail business as well as e-commerce firms in this sector, catering to the upper middle classes in the metros and emerging cities around the country. Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Badal believes that the goals would provide the necessary boost to foreign investments in this domain, with not just money, but more importantly will lead to transfer of technology, know-how and skills needed for India to create and run an efficient food processing industry.
