In the lake city of Udaipur, tourist arrivals have shown a strong start to 2026, with 244,558 visitors recorded in January, according to the Rajasthan Tourism Department. This remarkable footfall marks the highest January count in the past 16 years, highlighting the city’s growing popularity among both domestic and international travellers.

According to the Rajasthan Tourism Department, of these, more than 225,000 were domestic travellers, while 19,558 were foreign visitors.

Officials say the figures reflect sustained interest in the city among both Indian and Udaipur verseas visitors. Data from the past nine years indicates steady expansion in visitor numbers. In January 2018, the city received about 105,000 tourists.

By January 2026, that figure had risen to nearly 250,000, marking an increase of more than two times over the period.

The year 2025 recorded the highest annual domestic arrivals so far. Approximately 1.996 million domestic tourists visited Udaipur during the year, along with more than 16,000 foreign visitors.

Officials say current trends suggest continued momentum in 2026. According to tourism department, the domestic tourism has grown sharply, foreign arrivals show a different pattern.

The highest number of international visitors was recorded in 2018, when about 207,000 foreign tourists came to the city. Seasonal patterns also remain consistent. November and December attract the largest crowds each year. December 2025 registered the highest monthly domestic footfall on record.

Tourism officials expect the upward trend to continue through 2026, supported by ongoing promotional efforts and infrastructure improvements.
