ATOAI, Ministry of Tourism hold meet on positioning India as adventure tourism destination

Efforts are being made to position India as top adventure tourism destination

Tourism industry association ATOAI held a seminar in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism for carving a roadmap to position India as an adventure tourism destination on the global map.

With focus on sustainability, skill development and regional collaboration, the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), held a seminar on adventure tourism in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, in collaboration with the Southern Regional Office of the Ministry of Tourism.

In a press statement, ATAOI says that with theme Navigating towards a safer and stronger future, more than 120 delegates including adventure tour operators, industry experts, government officials and members of the adventure community participated in the seminar to discuss the future of adventure tourism in the country.

According to the statement, the seminar was held to position India as a global adventure tourism destination under National Strategy for Adventure Tourism. 

In his keynote address on India’s Tourism Vision for Adventure, D Venkatesan, Regional Director (South), Ministry of Tourism, highlighted on the country’s vast demographic features which made India one of the most promising adventure destinations. 

The statement adds that he also encouraged participants and adventure operators to register on the government platform as it enhanced credibility and ensured adherence to national standards, apart from providing access to capacity building and promotional opportunities. 

According to the statement, a technical presentation was given by Nirat Bhatt, Honorary Treasurer, ATOAI, on Ensuring Safe Adventures: Standards, Protocols & Training & Adventure Law, followed by a panel discussion on Importance of Safety and Training the Team.

The seminar was the second in the series of the seminars being organised by the Southern Regional Office, Ministry of Tourism, covering the southern India.
